HSE Engineer
Our Client, a major operator with an unrivalled presence in the Middle East, is searching for a Drilling HSE Engineer of the highest calibre. The position is a residential office based role. The Drilling HSE Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the health and safety of several land and offshore drilling rigs, leading and motivating an experienced team of rig site HSE Advisors.
Contract duration: 12 month ongoing

Start Date: Quarter 3/4 2015
Accountabilities
• Provision of HSE support & advice to staff and contractors
• Ensure that the HSE risks associated with the work are systematically identified and mitigated
• Take a leading role in the development of a proactive HSE culture
• Ensure contractors are systematically assessed through a rigorous auditing process and managed to achieve an excellent performance
• Use communication skills to influence contracting organisations to deliver an excellent performance, including active participation during the daily rig calls regarding all HSE matters and leading the regular HSE conference calls with the rig.
• Participate in (and where appropriate lead ) incident investigation teams including closeout of actions
• Act as the competent point of contact for external Regulatory and other stakeholders
• Ensure a current permits and consents plan is in place
• Provide leadership in terms of emergency and contingency management
• Manage the collection and reporting of key proactive and reactive HSE metrics on the project
• Through a clear strategy, careful planning and performance monitoring drive excellent HSE performance in both staff and contractor communities
• Take a leading role in the implementation of company procedures and policies
• Provide a training resource as necessary
• Individual will also need to be able to coach and support the activities of the offshore safety coach
Personal Criteria
• HSEQ / Emergency Response / Occupational Health / training experience
• Ability to work at project and senior management / Governmental level
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Organised, task driven and proactive
• Planning and supervisory skills
