CAR ACCIDENT
On the morning of 17th April, 2014, Pipeline Engineer
started driving car around 06:40am from accommodation to MOT having 3 other employees.
After driving approx. 500m at the speed of 76km/hr. he tried to
change lane from right to left, while doing this he observed a passenger bus on
his left side. Bus driver honked the horn; driver got panic and took a sharp
turn to his right smashing four road side sign boards consecutively before stopping.
All the four passengers including driver came out of the vehicle without
injury, but damage to vehicle was irreparable.
Why it happened:
Unawareness of traffic rules
and “Right-of-way”
Improper decision making and
Lack of judgment
Absence of attention to the
moving traffic
Lessons Learned:
ü Always drive with full
concentration and follow safe driving regulations and guidance.
ü Identify road hazards and
traffic flow on both sides
ü Watch out for pedestrians
especially near crossings and parked vehicles along road side.
